The FELDENKRAIS MOVEMENT INSTITUTE is
the most experienced training organization in the world for the FELDENKRAIS
METHOD®. Each training program is
developed by Frank Wildman, Ph.D., and taught by the most inspiring
instructors in the field today.
The program is open to both professionals
and non-professionals. Our FELDENKRAIS training program teaches all
students how thoughts, feelings and actions are fundamental to neuromuscular
control and bio mechanical efficiency. You'll learn how to relieve
pressure and strain on joints and muscles while improving coordination
and quality of motion. Students will learn through movement while
achieving greater control and performance in their own lives.
Topics of study include:
Biomechanics (the study of human structure
and function)
Communications Science
Dynamic Systems Theory
Engineering and Physics
Motor Learning and Action Theories
Movement and Language Acquisition
Creativity Study
Martial Arts and Dance
A successful FELDENKRAIS practitioner must
be able to nurture a deep rapport with clients. This elusive quality
is a key part of our program. It promises you intrigue, stimulation
and lasting reward. The advantage of such a program includes the
personal satisfaction of helping others while learning patterns of
“breakthroughs” for even the most persistent of client
problems.

and educator…brilliant, creative and talented.
Mara Fusero, with 15 years
of experience as Assistant Trainer, will attend the entire Training
Program, assisting the Trainers to assure didactic continuity
and collaborating with students in their learning process for
the entire four years.
In-between each segment we will organize
sessions for more in-depth study of all themes discussed during
the training.
Ettore Porcari, along with
all the staff of our Feldenkrais Center, will guarantee the good
progress of the course, and document it with video and audio,
in addition to providing all materials necessary for comfort

during Christmas Holiday, in Milano, Italy.
We will organize an extra make-up segment
before the start of the second year, during the Easter's holiday,
for anyone that may have missed sessions in year one. There will
also be audio and video recordings available.
We hope that this training will be a good
opportunity for all of us to meet new colleagues as well as to meet
some colleagues again. Each new Training Program needs the help of
the Feldenkrais community to recruit new trainers. Many students
who decide to participate in a training program come from previous “Feldenkrais
experiences” made with teachers from every part of the world.
I thank you all for your precious help to spread the word of this
Training Program.

Faculty You can see a list of all faculty
associated with the Feldenkrais Movement Institute below,
but the faculty working with the Oregon training are:
A
new US 4-year program, in Oregon,
began Fall 2010... Late enrollment requires intensive
make-up sessions for coursework covered since the original
starting
The
entire program lasts 4 curriculum years, 40 days per curriculum
year, and will take three calendar years to complete (each curriculum
year lasts nine months).
The coursework offers a profound and pleasurable learning experience.
You'll balance your time between intense study and periods to assimilate
the depth of information. Classes are woven together in an experiential
and exploratory manner. Hands-on lessons, lectures, discussion groups,
reading and dvds will help guide you to learn at your own pace in
a non-competitive environment.
AWARENESS
THROUGH MOVEMENT® consists
of hundreds of lessons that cover every joint and muscle
group in the body, recapturing the organic learning processes
of childhood. They are done in a group setting with other
students. Many of these lessons were devised by Dr. Moshe
Feldenkrais himself. Others are specially designed by teaching
faculty to illustrate particular movement concepts. The lessons
are balanced with lectures, demonstrations and discussions.
FUNCTIONAL
INTEGRATION® is a systematic approach of working "hands-on" with
another individual to address specific neurologic or muscular
problems. Students receive personalized private instruction
and supervision from staff as they develop their own skills
to work with others. In the final year, a clinic allows students
to perform FUNCTIONAL INTEGRATION® lessons under
supervision while receiving detailed feedback.
Teachings
of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais are extensively utilized including many
of his lectures on videotape. The AWARENESS THROUGH MOVEMENT® ®classes
and Dr. Feldenkrais's most interesting FUNCTIONAL INTEGRATION® lessons
are closely examined and discussed in order to focus upon key principles
and theories.
All
discussions, lessons and demonstrations videotaped and made available
to students. These daily recordings provide an indispensable
means of study. They also facilitate make-up sessions in the
case of absence. The video tapes also serve as a record of the
student's progress and enable review of one's physical transformation.
Transcribed manuals and commentary from lessons and lectures
offer added clarity.
In
addition to interaction with instructors, students work in small
groups to maximize teaching and understand handling of different
individuals. Study groups occur in a highly personalized manner
for greater understanding of interactions. The groups promote
invaluable relationships among participants and a sense of mutual
support or home away from home. It is from these study groups
that many lifelong colleagues and friends can be established.
Throughout
training, students have a regular opportunity to meet with the
program director and teaching faculty for guidance in their studies.
You'll receive personal support in your learning experience,
encouragement of your progress, plus attention to many professional
aspects of setting up your own practice.
Graduation
is based on completion of
AWARENESS
THROUGH MOVEMENT® and FUNCTIONAL INTEGRATION® coursework,
full
attendance in all sessions of the training program and
successful
evaluations from faculty.
Missed
sessions must be completed through an authorized training
program prior to graduation. Occasionally, faculty may advise
additional training be undertaken before practicing the FELDENKRAIS
METHOD®. In some cases, additional training may be a
prerequisite to acceptance into the FELDENKRAIS GUILD.
Upon
successful completion, all graduates are authorized to teach AWARENESS
THROUGH MOVEMENT® and practice FUNCTIONAL INTEGRATION® as
a CERTIFIED FELDENKRAIS PRACTITIONER, under the approval
of the FELDENKRAIS
GUILD OF NORTH AMERICA.

The
FELDENKRAIS professional training program offered by the FELDENKRAIS
MOVEMENT INSTITUTE provides a theoretical and technical
background for study that relates to virtually every discipline
taught in major universities and teaching institutions. Due to
the great versatility and significance in people's lives, including
rehabilitation, performance development and improving self-awareness,
graduates are able to select from a variety of career opportunities.
After
graduation, many students have applied their education to such
fields as physical therapy, occupational therapy, neuromuscular
rehabilitation, gerontology, childhood special education, massage
therapy, psychotherapy, speech pathology, sports training, dance,
music, performing arts and more.
During
training, students evolve from trainees into practitioners. Graduates
have experienced many opportunities to learn skills related to
the workplace and development of their own practice. Graduates
are able to generate and utilize research data pertinent to the
FELDENKRAIS METHOD. They are capable of approaching people within
their own communities to introduce applications for AWARENESS
THROUGH MOVEMENT and FUNCTIONAL INTEGRATION. They also posses
the knowledge and skills to offer lessons to special audiences.
Practitioners are able to experience both professional and personal
rewards only limited by their own dedication to growth and development.
The FELDENKRAIS
professional training program is not intended to provide
medical rehabilitation or psychiatric treatment for enrollees,
nor is it intended to replace training in those fields.
Training programs
may be subject to cancellation in cases of insufficient enrollment,
faculty availability or facilities. In the case of faculty
or location changes, enrollees will be notified at least
30 days in advance and given the option for refund.
